MT. WOLF
BIOGRAPHY
Highly influential dream-pop band Mt. Wolf return with their misty new single "Tayrona," ft. Tamsin Wilson from Wilsen. This is the first single from a forthcoming collaborative project, to be released via Akira Records. "Tayrona" is Mt. Wolf's first release after taking a musical hiatus for the past few years. Having got their start in 2013 by igniting the dream-folk genre movement with the release of their first single "Life Size Ghosts," Mt. Wolf quickly became one of the UK's most talked about bands. They were included in Clash Magazine's Ones To Watch, topped Hype Machine charts, were featured by Majestic Casual and within a year they sold out headline shows around London at prestigious venues including Corsica Studios, XOYO, Union Chapel and Heaven. After releasing the Red EP in 2015 to critical acclaim once more, 2016 was a year of huge growth and the band's presence across the world grew exponentially, leading to hundreds of thousands of monthly listeners on Spotify and radio support in the UK, US, Australia and Germany. Mt. Wolf released their debut album Aetherlight in 2017, garnering praise worldwide - from radio support to highly praised publications. The band won the PRS Momentum Fund and the BPI Music Growth Export Scheme, were featured on the Blog Sound of 2014 and 2016, and played a run of festivals including significant performances at The Great Escape, SXSW and Glastonbury. A headline tour followed in UK, Europe and America with notable shows at Scala in London and The Knitting Factory in New York - where in fact the band first met Tamsin from Wilsen. "you get the same sense of emotional breakthrough that a great Bon Iver song provides" - Billboard "highlighting the sweeping sonic landscapes that the band create" - Paste "Self-starters to the fullest extent, the band had been selling out shows at London Heaven and across the country, standing out as one of the most promising new acts in the UK" - DIY "Soaring blissfully within the new-wave realms of dreamfolk are South London quartet Mt. Wolf" - Clash "...sonically illuminates the London newcomer's as a dreamfolk tour de force" - VICE New single "Tayrona" features a mellifluous guitar melody that lulls you into peaceful thoughts as Wilsen's vocalist, Tamsin's, silvery voice takes center stage. Listening to this track is somewhat like floating in a daydream as the hazy, layered soundscape encapsulates you. After the percussion kicks in, this folky masterpiece sinks in with powerful lyrics about a love's ebbs and flows. "Tayrona" is their first release since their debut album Aetherlight in 2017.
